Position Summary:
In close partnership with the Senior Director of Strategic Learning & Impact, CALI’s Director of Research, Evaluation, and Learning is responsible for defining and implementing research, evaluation, and applied learning strategy for GLIDE’s impact divisions – Programs, the Center for Social Justice, and GLIDE Memorial Church –to meet the organization’s learning and impact assessment goals. In addition to assessing internal impact, this role is responsible for staying abreast of external data trends that influence GLIDE’s strategic directions and programmatic response to community need.  
 
The successful candidate will have experience in collaborative, cross-systems problem solving; designing research to collect, analyze, and report on mixed methods data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational initiatives, processes, and strategy; and managing daily operations of a research team in support of organizational goals and needs. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated experience in leading, supporting and developing a research team to implement best-in-class applied research.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead GLIDE’s development as a learning and impact organization by establishing and implementing a clear evaluation strategy, project plans, and processes to assess GLIDE’s impact beyond regularly collected service data.  
    • Collaborate with the Director of Monitoring & Analytics to develop a clear measurement plan for each impact division that specifies the tools, metrics, and timelines for specific points of data collection to capture, analyze, and make meaning of GLIDE’s impact as defined by the GLIDE Forward organizational strategy.  
    • Collaborate with leaders and staff of GLIDE’s impact divisions – Programs, the Center for Social Justice, and GLIDE Memorial Church – and CALI’s Director of Monitoring & Analytics, to develop evergreen learning agendas for each that align with GLIDE Forward impact goals.   
    • Lead the design and development of key evaluation tools – logic models, theories of change, survey instruments, and interview protocols – to establish impact baselines and guide iterative learning and programmatic improvement for impact divisions at GLIDE 
    • Lead the REL team in staying abreast of best practices in evaluation research to ensure that CALI is utilizing best in class approaches to evaluation and research at GLIDE to improve and guide impact division strategy and implementation. 
    • Lead the design and development of external communications (white papers, journal entries, conference posters, etc.) to distribute, present, and share with other social service providers and partners to share GLIDE’s best practices with the field. 
    • Facilitate and guide the team’s efforts around data visualization for a variety of internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Build collaborative relationships across departments at GLIDE to maintain clarity around shifting needs for CALI’s Research, Evaluation, and Learning work, and to communicate CALI’s needs to accomplish the work. 
    • Partner with the Sr. Director of CALI and Director of Monitoring & Analytics to develop and track CALI measures of success. 
    • Work with Senior Director to resolve personnel issues in accordance with GLIDE’s policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:

    • At least 6 to 8 years of experience leading and implementing program and impact evaluations – including research and evaluation tool development, data collection and analysis, and report writing – for the purpose of program learning, strategic decision-making, and reporting for contract-based work (preferably in a non-profit).   
    • Proficiency in mixed-methods research design and analysis. Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data found in reports relevant to programs or projects.  
    • Proficiency with qualitative tools (Nvivo or Dedoose) and best practices for applied qualitative analysis. 
    • Significant experience with quantitative analysis and tools (STATA, SPSS, R, Python, etc.) and survey platform tools like SurveyMonkey.  
    • Ability to perform mathematical calculations with speed and high degree of accuracy.  
    • Familiar with the complexities of governmental contracts and foundation grants.  
    • Commitment and hands on experience implementing systems-driven solutions for scalable and sustainable impact.  
    • Must be a strong leader who has direct experience developing staff professionally and building solid teams.  
    • Ability to lead, prioritize and manage strategic goals and initiatives.  
    • Strong analytical Skills. Must have the ability to research, analyze, and communicate program goals and outcomes.  
    • A team player who can work with a variety of internal and external constituencies.   
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities.  
    • Exceptional skills in report writing and developing communications for audiences with different relationships with data.    

Preferred Qualifications:

    • BA degree 
    • Experience using Salesforce and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI etc.) 
    • Evaluation and/or strategy/management consulting experience 
    • Experience with database management and querying strongly preferred.  
$130,000 - $150,000 a year
